Welcome to uwish.

uwish (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a social wishlist application that allows users to create wishlists, share them with friends, and reserve gifts while preserving the surprise for the wishlist owner.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding your personal data.

This Privacy Policy is provided in English. If you require a translation, you may use available translation tools. In case of any discrepancies, the English version shall prevail.

By installing, registering for, accessing, or using uwish, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy or any future updates to it, you should not install, register for, access, or continue using the application.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following information:

Account Information

• First name
• Last name
• Email address
• Password (stored securely as a hashed value)
• Interface language preference

Optional Profile Information

• Country
• Gender
• Profile photo (avatar)
• Special dates (such as birthday)

Wishlist Information

• Wishlist names
• Wishlist descriptions
• Wishlist items
• Item links, notes, categories, and prices
• Reservation status of gifts

Content Shared by You

• Links, text, images, or other content you choose to share with uwish using system share features
• Content you manually add to your wishlists
• Information extracted from shared links to help pre-fill wishlist item details

Clipboard Information

We may access content from your device clipboard only when you explicitly use features that help you add links or content into uwish, or when this access is necessary to provide a clear user-facing suggestion such as “Add from copied link?”.

Clipboard access is used solely to improve usability and make it easier for you to add items to your wishlists. We do not store clipboard content unless you choose to save it as part of a wishlist item.

Social Data

• Friend connections
• Shared wishlist visibility
• Gift reservation activity

Technical and Analytics Information

We may collect:

• App usage analytics
• Device and operating system information
• App interaction events
• Feature usage data
• Technical diagnostic information

This information is collected through analytics tools such as Mixpanel. We do not send personally identifiable information such as your name or email address to Mixpanel.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Authenticate your login
• Verify your email address
• Enable password recovery
• Provide wishlist and gift reservation functionality
• Allow social interactions with friends
• Allow you to add wishlist items using links, manual entry, or system share features
• Improve application usability, performance, and user experience

• Understand which features are useful to users
• Prevent abuse and unauthorized access

Reminders and Social Notifications

We may use dates you provide (such as birthdays or other special dates) to enable reminder and notification features within the app.

This may include notifying your friends about upcoming events to help them prepare gifts or interact with your wishlists in a timely and meaningful way.

These features are designed to improve the social experience and enhance the usefulness of uwish.

Email Communications

We may use your email address to send you service-related communications, such as:

• email verification messages
• password reset emails
• important account or security updates
• notifications related to core app functionality

We may also send you occasional product-related or marketing communications, such as feature updates, tips, reminders, product news, or information that may help you get more value from uwish.

You can opt out of non-essential marketing communications where such options are provided. Service-related emails that are necessary for account security, authentication, or core app functionality may still be sent.

3. Gift Reservation Privacy

One of uwish’s core features is private gift reservation.

When someone reserves a gift from your wishlist:

• your friends may see reservation status when appropriate
• the wishlist owner does not see who reserved the gift

This functionality is intentionally designed to preserve the surprise experience.

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party providers to operate our service:

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Used for:

• secure backend hosting
• database infrastructure
• avatar image storage (Amazon S3)

Resend

Used for:

• email verification
• password reset emails
• service-related emails
• product-related or marketing emails where applicable

Mixpanel

Used for:

• product analytics
• feature usage tracking
• application improvement

Mixpanel is used for analytics and product improvement. We do not send your name or email address to Mixpanel.

These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We may share limited information with trusted service providers only as necessary to operate, secure, analyze, and improve uwish. These providers may include infrastructure, storage, analytics, and email delivery providers.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of uwish, our users, or others.

6. Data Storage and Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data.

This includes:

• secure password hashing
• HTTPS encrypted communication
• protected infrastructure access
• controlled access to production systems

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account directly within the application.

When your account is deleted:

• your personal profile data is removed
• your associated wishlists and related account data are removed where applicable
• stored avatar files are deleted from storage systems where applicable

Certain limited technical records may be retained temporarily for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance purposes.

Deleting the application does not automatically delete your account or associated data. Your account and related information will remain stored on our servers unless you explicitly request account deletion within the application.

8. Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations.

Inactive or deleted accounts may be permanently removed from our systems after a reasonable retention period.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:

• access your personal data
• request correction of inaccurate information
• request deletion of your account and associated data
• opt out of non-essential marketing communications
• stop using the application if you do not agree with this Privacy Policy or future updates

10. Children’s Privacy

uwish is not intended for children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. International Users

Your data may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including the United States.

By using uwish, you consent to such processing where applicable.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If significant changes are made, we will update the Effective Date and may notify users inside the application or by other appropriate means.

Your continued use of uwish after updates to this Privacy Policy means that you accept the updated Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the updated Privacy Policy, you should stop using the application.
